Sorry veggies.. this one’s all meat! Even though the recipe is for bulgogi beef, when you’ve got the BBQ going, why not grill up some chicken for the week for your salads! I first had bulgogi in London of all places, about 20 years ago.. I had no idea what it was, but a friend who worked in a Korean inspired restaurant told me to try it and I’ve been making it ever since! There are a ton of recipes out there and technically you should use Korean short ribs, but I like marinating any beef that’s going on the grill in the same sauce, its so perfect for grilled beef. You can use brisket or sirloin or short ribs, but I prefer either skirt steak or flank steak on the grill with this dish

  • Skirt steak or flank steak
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic chopped
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • about an inch of fresh ginger, peeled and grated

Add all the ingredients apart from the steak into a bowl and mix thoroughly. Put your steak in a ziplock and place in the marinade. Marinade in the fridge for up to 8 hours. Wiggle the bag and the sauce around every now and then to share the love!

Fire up your BBQ and away you go – the marinade will form a delicious crust as you cook the meat.
